The outlet buyer should perform the following tasks: -
· Ensure out of stock & low-stock items are procured and displayed in the shelf without delay.
· Check for non-moving / slow moving items and take action to discontinue them.
· Check for overstock and return it to suppliers.
· Follow up constantly with suppliers and ensure ordered items are received on time without delay.
· Ensure availability of import products as well as local products.
· Ensure promotion products are displayed with proper visibility in bulk area/separate area.
· Ensure price changes are affected before shop opening.
· Introduce new and innovative products.
· Utilization of shelf space productively for merchandizing.
· Buying the right product at the right time for the right price and sell it at a competitive price.
· Visit competitors’ shops periodically and watch their display, products, promotions etc.
· Help control stock levels by varying delivery schedules or recommending clearance sales.
· React to changes in demand and changes in logistics.
· Participate in promotional activities.
· Write reports and forecast sales levels.
· Seek merchandise feedback from customers.
· Maintain relationship with existing suppliers and source new and alternative suppliers for future requirements.
· Work with suppliers to develop new products and re-launch existing lines.
· Coordinate and discuss with Managers/sales staff and ensure products are displayed well, shelves are kept clean/tidy, expired products are removed from shelf.
· Discuss with concerned managers about promotions and customer demands.
· Presenting new ranges to GM/Managers.
· Update and follow municipality regulations that are issued time to time.
· Use every opportunity to gain product knowledge & understand customers’ needs.
· Training and mentoring junior staff.
· Do floor walk daily, interact with sales staff and check departments and sales and availability of products.
· Any other assignments given by the management/regional leadership for enhancing sales, profit and customer satisfaction.
· Negotiate contracts with suppliers specifying quality, quantity, price and delivery schedules.
· Identify old fashion products and discontinue them.
· Send requirements for promotion products to CBD well in advance and ensure its availability in the store well before promotion.
Assess & Refine (Analyze)
· Monitor and analyze market changes, past sales history, consumer buying patterns etc to forecast future demand.
· Conduct market trend analysis time to time for procurement of products.
· Conduct market survey periodically in respect of price.
· Attend exhibitions, trade fairs & events and update/select new innovations and trends.
· Use sales data for ordering /discontinuing products etc.
· Monitor the performance of product lines and suppliers; and if necessary, terminate contracts.
